The Lost Art

It seems the only thing I get in the mail now-days is junk, making a trip to the mailbox less exciting than it's probably ever been. Not that I ever got anything super exciting in mail before now, aside from Christmas time when making a trip to the mailbox is a bit more enjoyable with the anticipation of perhaps a Christmas card from friends or family. I decided I wanted to try to bring back the "lost art" of traditional, old-school communication via mail. Our lives are so busy and technology has became so convenient that we rarely make a sincere and thoughtful attempt to communicate with those we love. So I've designed a few "just because" cards that I am going print, HAND-write a note in, and send to those who I rarely get a chance to catch up with but cross my mind throughout the busy days. Besides, wouldn't it be such a fun surprise to find something bright and cheery like this pop up in your mailbox one day!? When was the last time you received a handwritten note, aside from the holidays, from someone who just wanted to say 'hello'? I bet it's been a LONG time.

Typeface Poster

Just wanted to share a couple posters I designed for my typography class---on the typeface "Palatino", of course. It just happens to be one of my favorites, although I mostly posted these to share the design and color schemes---that I happen to love---as I realize most people, unless your a designer, could care less about a typeface.

Thank You Card

I thought this was a great idea, although I can't take all of the credit for it. Once I delivered the shower invites (seen in last post) the lady who is throwing the party asked if I could created a thank you card based on the shower invite that she could give to the bride-to-be as a gift. What a great idea! It can be very tedious writing thank you notes and I loved the idea of having them coordinate with the original shower invite. We left some space below the type where the bride can sign her name to give it a little more personal touch.

Bridal Shower Invite

I was very excited when a lady I work with asked me to design an invitation for a bridal shower she was throwing for one of her neighbors/friend. She wanted the colors to match the wedding and was looking for something retro/vintage-style.
