Birthday Calendar

So, in preparation of the new year (yes, I know that Christmas isn't even over yet, but I am attempting to get a start on my new year's resolution of being more organized) I have made a calendar with the birthday's of our immediate family members on it. With two families, and Brad's being fairly large and growing (with no contribution from Brad and I) :0) I have decided I'd whip up a quick calendar as to not forget anyone's birthdays or scramble to find out exactly what day it is when the month rolls around.

Brinlee Rae Baby Announcement

Remember the baby announcement I wrote about in the last post? Well here it is! Brinlee is my cousin Ronni's baby and she is such a cutie! I had so much fun working on her announcement and was so glad when Ronni asked me to do it.

Purple Paisley Blog Button

I've been thinking lately that I need a way to spread the word about Purple Paisley, especially since people will soon be thinking about graduation announcements and what not. Yes, I always think about needing to spread the word about it, but rarely take much action. But not this time! I recently designed a baby announcement (soon to be posted) for my cousin and she had the brilliant idea suggesting I create a blog button for Purple Paisley. I'd thought of it before, but never really took the time to do much with it. So, here it is! (I've added it to this blog, which you can see to the right column of the page)

If you would like a Purple Paisley button on your blog that others who view your blog can click on and instantly be directed to the Purple Paisley blog follow the instructions below:

1. Make sure you are logged into and looking at your blog page.

2. Go to "customize" at the top of your blog on the right side.

3. Click "add gadget" then choose "html/javascript".

4. Copy and paste the code found in the box under my Purple Paisley button on this page (to the right) in the "Content" box.

5. click "save".

Viola! You now have a button to Purple Paisley! For those of you who choose to add this button to your blog, I'd love to know about it! And most importantly, thank you!

2009 Christmas Card

I love sending and receiving Christmas cards in the mail. I love it because it seems so "old fashioned" with all the technology today (blogging, email, facebook). How often do you really get a good, old, straight from the heart, piece of mail in your mailbox? Not often enough! I love the surprise of it all and it's become such a rare occasion. Here is the Christmas card I designed to send out this year for Brad and I.

Business Card?

So my sister-in-law and I were talking about how fun it would be to actually have business cards....and after seeing some really cute ones around lately, I thought I'd give a shot at creating my own. What do you guys think? Would this be "give-out" worthy? I, personally, kind of like the quote on the back section, but am wondering if maybe it's a little too much? What do you think?

Wedding Invite

Here is a look at what I've been working on (outside of school) the past few weeks. Jessie is the daughter of a former co-worker and I was so excited when they asked me to design their wedding announcement for them! They were great to work with and so easy going. I had a great time getting to know them a little bit and designing their wedding announcement. Check them out below! Once again, if you know of anyone looking for an announcement of any sort (I know some people are thinking about grad announcements & I have a couple of those lined up already) please let me know! I would love to help! I am putting the finishing touches on a baby announcement I'm doing for my cousin (she just had an adorable chubby-cheeked, dark haired little girl) and will post those work-ups as soon as I get the "get-go" on them.

I'd like to put a shout out to my sister-in-law Amy for getting Jessie's invites printed for us. You're the bomb Amy! As well as a shout out to Jessie and Trever, thank you so much for allowing me to design your invite, you guys are great and I wish the best of luck to you guys on your big day!

Notepad

I'm the type of person who has to write a list for myself when I go to the store. Not only does it help me remember the things I need to pick up, but it also helps keep me on budget. If it's not on the list, I probably don't need to buy it. So when we were required to make a notepad of some sort that we would print and bind, I thought a "shopping list" pad would be very practical for me. We were only allowed to use 2 colors and 2 tints of each color. I think my fave is the top one because of the more vibrant colors.

Peach Jam

I am attempting to make some peach freezer jam this weekend, here's the label I created. I've never done this before so it could be very interesting....but hey, at least the jar will look good even if the jam doesn't, right?

Skills USA Pin Design

For school we were required to design a pin (yes, the kind you wear) for a national conference called Skills USA. Below you can see my layout design. (You can click on the image to see at it a better resolution and size)

Magazine Article Layout

This is an InDesign project that I had a lot of fun with. We were required to do a cover page, table of contents, and two page article spread. I enjoyed doing this as it was different than anything else I've worked on so far & I was pleased with the outcome.

Logo

This first logo was an assignment requirement for my 2D course. There are a few things I'd like to go back and fix, such as perhaps the text, and I'm hoping I will sometime get time to.

A Movie Poster Make-Over

As a photoshop assignment we were required to "re-make" a movie poster by taking 3 or more separate images & combining them together to make them believable as one single image. I chose to make-over the Juno movie poster. I wanted to keep the general feel of the original poster but opted to exclude the faces in order to put the focus on the pregnant belly and "adoption classifieds" newspaper stack. There is definitely plenty of room for touch ups on this project, but being one of the first of it's kind that I've had to do I thought I'd post it anyways. Just ignore some of the rough edges.....thank you :D

Graduation Announcements

Below are some graduation announcements I designed for my cousin. Jessi wanted a green, purple, and brown color palette. (Although I had to throw the brown and yellow one in as well... :D)

My Wedding Announcement

For some reason these images posted small, if you'd like a better look you can click on each image and it should enlarge.

These are the inserts we used for the gift registry and the sealing session:

Welcome!

I am not the greatest blogger in the world.....but only because I can't seem to find the time to do as much as I would like. So why would I bother to have 2 blogs, you may ask? Well...I decided I need a way to show some of my design work, without the hassle of continually loading & emailing samples and projects to those who are interested in having me do some work for them. Second of all, I'm hoping perhaps this will help get the word out & open some doors to more opportunities for creating design projects for people as I work my way through school & try to build up a portfolio. The bonus is, any project I may do for someone will be very reasonably priced, to say the least, because we both will win. My sole focus is the mere opportunity to gain some experience for myself as I help you out by designing whatever it is you're looking for, and not for financial gain. So, if you're in need of any type of announcement, invitation, note card sets, or anything else you can think of, feel free to let me know & help spread the word!
