Great News!

I've been super excited this week as there is now a light at the end of the tunnel....I received word that my graduation application was reviewed, my requirements are complete, and I will be graduating with an Associates in Art and Visual Communications this December!

After many degree changes I feel that I've finally found my passion and something that I really enjoy. Graduating is sort of bittersweet for me, I am so excited to be able to have more time to invest in designing and working on some more photography skills now that I will not be boggled down with homework & classes once I get home from work, but at the same time I've really enjoyed school now that I've found something I love doing, and may eventually miss it. I never thought I would say that, but I think it may be true. I may go back to take a few classes here and there eventually, we'll see what happens.

I want to thank those who have allowed me the opportunities I've had to do so many fun design projects this year. Along side that I've had a lot of fun breaking out and dipping my toes into the photography realm----thanks to a friend who persistently insisted that I take photos of her kids, things just continued uphill from there, with word of mouth spreading it lead to 3 more photo shoots for families over the following few months, and a couple lined up in the near future.

Considering the amount of time I've had to work with, I have felt that my endeavors have paid off this year and word of mouth has spread quite a bit. I was glancing over this blog and realized how much I have actually accomplished since I started this and want to make a goal to do even more in 2011 by building and better marketing my little "business". I'm really excited to see what the future has in store!

Hailey + Justin

Here is the wedding announcement I designed for my cousin & had mentioned in the previous post. I've been dying to share it! Hailey's wedding colors are pink and turquoise and she wanted a worn-vintage look for the announcement. I dulled down her wedding colors a tad and added a "dirty" edge to each side of the invite to look worn without being too over powering and grungy. The turquoise/teal damask added a touch of classy-vintage and texture. I really love the way these turned out and was glad have the opportunity to add a piece to Hailey's big day! Best of luck to you two in the future and best wishes for a wonderful wedding day!

Hailey's Bridal Shower Invite

I've had a lot of fun lately designing invites/announcements for my cousins upcoming wedding. Here is her bridal shower invite. I love the cake and that it incorporates her colors. I also love the overall simplicity of the invite itself. The wedding announcement, soon to come.

Moos Family

Lately I've been doing a lot of photography for people and I'm glad to say that I really do enjoy it. (Not that I've given up on the design stuff... I have a fun invite for a bridal shower and a super cute wedding announcement that I will be posting in the next month). Here are some photos I did for the Moos family this past weekend. I have been so lucky to have such photogenic clients, and this family was no exception (which was so great for me cause I was a little nervous about doing a shoot with this many people...I'm a rookie you know)!

Heather, Kevin, and Kids

Heather is the daughter of a good friend at work, she and her family were out visiting from near the DC area this week and asked if I would take some photos of their family while they were here. What a photogenic family! Seriously, they were great. See for yourself.

Andrea + Tyler

This month has been booming for me as far as wedding invites go, and I was no-less than excited when Andrea asked me to design her wedding invite for her. I worked with Andrea for a few years at Work Care and was so glad to get to associate with her again. She asked for a 5x7 layout using her colors: black, white, and purple. I have always loved the black and white color scheme with a pop of accent color--it's simple, yet classic and elegant--and I love the purple Andrea chose for hers!

Thanks Andrea for allowing me to create a piece for your wedding! I wish you and Tyler the best as you start your life together---I'm so happy for you! :0)
