Sneak Peek: "Cute As A Button" Twin's Baby Shower

I have been excited about this latest project I've been working on! And I have to admit, I am often found daydreaming up ideas & details for this event.

A friend of mine is throwing a baby shower for her sister, who is expecting twins, and asked if I would design the invite for it as well as do a cake and cupcakes for the shower. I love entertaining and parties, and I love design. So there was NO way I could turn down a request like this!

The idea for the shower was initially based on polka dots. Blue, pink, and brown to be exact. I then threw out the idea to "spice up" the polka dot theme a bit and turn them into buttons. Super cute. I also love the idea of using the traditional pink/blue, girl/boy color scheme and throwing brown into the mix to give the two colors a more modern/unified look. You know all of the contests I've been entering and blogging about? One of my designs I entered in a contest for a marketing company in Canada was chosen as the winner!




Eat Marketing is a business who's mission is to help restaurants get more customers through their doors. Ronald, from Eat Marketing, was great to work with and had some good insight of his own. The logo is simplistic yet sophisticated--in both color & overall design.

Yipee! I am really excited to have some of my work displayed on websites, company stationary, and advertising by a company---and a company outside the states, at that!

These people are great, and Dee is one of the sweetest persons I've met. Not to mention, look at some of those close ups, seriously...I would never let anyone get that close to my face with a camera but they are obviously naturals cause they all look amazing. Thanks for letting me photograph your fun family!

Cookies

Okay....I seriously need a lower calorie hobby (aside from designing graphically), cause I have found another "baking" activity that I enjoy along-side cakes and cupcakes. I have been ooo-and-awing over "flooded" sugar cookies for a long time now and finally took the plunge to try doing them myself. (And for a first timer, they didn't turn out too hideously).

Talk about fun! I love the fact that you are creating an image on the cookie free-hand w/no guidance than the cookie's shape itself. It's like painting masterpieces with icing. :0)

My creative-artsy side loves this type of art....my love handles, on the other hand.....not so much
